The Many Faces of J & Family

Sometimes a photographer meets a client family, and something just clicks…. it’s like they were somehow meant to meet, their experiences and outlook on life jive, and the creative mojo just blossoms.

This is one of those times.

I met Toni and her family in the true infancy of my photography career.  She asked for headshots for her website (Officiant/Doula/Yogi extraordinaire at www.tonipotters.ca), and I set her up in my dining room, with a makeshift backdrop hung across the doors to my back deck.  I had one speedlite, and mostly no idea what I was doing… but she trusted me, and we got those headshots done.

Toni brought along her daughter, J, and this is where our tradition began.

She later reached out to me with a beautiful black and white shot of Cindy Crawford and her daughter, and wanted to know if I could attempt something along those lines.  I was shocked, scared, and excited – “who, me? ummmm…. sure?  I’m down to try!”  And she trusted me.

Toni and J came back, and the two of them just made the magic happen in front of the lens.  I couldn’t be more in love with the results, or with this family, who continually trusts and supports me to try things I haven’t before.

I truly think that this session is where the rubber hit the road for me, professionally, as well as solidified my relationship with Toni.

I have now photographed Toni and her family multiple times, for a variety of reasons, but one thing I always try to capture when we get together, is the many faces of beautiful J.

I’ve been saying I will dedicate a blog post to this young lady for a long time, so we are way overdue for it.

Always, always, always stay you, Miss J.

These are images from my latest session with this beautiful family, and I just can’t wait to get out for another session with them!
