My latest branding project was with Ashley of Home Steps here in Squamish. Home Steps provides Organization and Relocation services in Whistler, Squamish and Vancouver.
Ashley and I connected through Instagram during the 2020 Pandemic, after her feed came across my Instagram. As so many of us do, I struggle with clutter and organization, so her helpful tips really resonated with me. Having worked with Ashley to declutter and simplify my home, I can tell you that she is supportive, non-judgemental, and even fun!

Q: How did Home Steps come about? The who/when/why/how behind the business?
A: At the start of the pandemic I decided that my current job wasn’t what I was meant to do forever, if I remember correctly I gave my notice sometime in April. At that time I had no idea what I would do but I knew that I had some room to take a break, enjoy the summer and reflect. That August while backpacking the Sunshine Coast Trail, a 180km hike for eleven days the idea behind Home Steps was born, I had Home Steps up and running shortly afterwards and we are now in our third year!
Q: What kinds of hobbies do you enjoy, and how do those influence your work?
A: I love being active and this summer will be full of hiking, however in a past life 10yrs ago to be exact I set out for a 3100km solo bike ride from Canada to Mexico. It was during this ride that something clicked, if I could live off of my bike with 70lbs of gear for two months, I can for sure live a more simple and clutter free lifestyle at home. This mindset and my entrepreneurial background blended together are now Home Steps.
Q: Tell me about your favourite thing about your work.
I love that every client session is different, since Home Steps has started I have worked in so many homes. My clients have included a young collage student needing a hand to pack and move home, to helping a busy family stage their townhouse and continuing bi-yearly decluttering sessions in their new home, to supporting a senior downsizing client find a home for her most loved possessions including a medium grand Steinway piano.
